The Jetsons were in their mid 30′s and lived in the distant future of 2062, in a world of anti-gravity cars, high rise buildings and robotic maids. The cartoonists for Hanna-Barberra, who created the series back in the 1960′s, no doubt thought a 100 years in the future was plenty of time to realize the utopic lifestyle of their dreams.

Well people with kids born in 2030, will be grandparents to the new Jetsons and we’re rapidly creating a world that can fulfill that vision of the modern jet-set, Jetson lifestyles! Despite the doomsday theories of 2012 looming over us, more than likely, by the year 2062 we will be living better than in any previous era on Earth.

According the Friedman, we will solve our energy problems through space based solar arrays beaming cheap power to the planet’s surface, overpopulation will be on the decline, advances in biotech will make us healthier, robotics will supply cheap labor, easy transportation anywhere in the world, and a technological boom in communications is on the near horizon, that will provide personal freedoms the likes of which we can only imagine .

So take heart future Jetsons. Your future may not be utopic, but it will nevertheless be a fantastic one!
